Fine Artist is now available, Downeast and beyond, with the launch of their online furniture collection - The Tradition of the New. Visit fineartistmade.com to see their handcrafted collection - unique designs - a synthesis of folk art, antiques, a personal aesthetic and contemporary living. The line features everything from occasional tables to gourmet cabinets.
Husband and wife team, Patrick Mealey & Joyce Jackson, have made it their business to fashion one-of-a-kind quality furniture, kitchens & baths. With their new furniture venture, they join a long-standing tradition - Maine’s cottage industry.
Both artists, Patrick a painter and Joyce a photographer, who met, married, lived and ran a successful restoration business in the Hamptons. A honeymoon excursion Downeast left a lasting impression. In 2001 they purchased their dream, an 8-acre farm on Boyden Lake in Perry.
In conjunction with the launch of their online collection, the couple’s circa 1893 home is featured in the July issue of the national magazine, Old-House Interiors. The magazine is a must read publication for designers and restorers interested in period design. The article features a story about popular Maine guide and raconteur, Rob Golding (whose parents built the home), that the noted historian/illustrator, Eric Sloane included in his book, The Spirits of ‘76.
The July issue of Old-House Interiors is now available at the Perry Farmers’ Union in Perry, R&M IGA in Eastport & Bell’s IGA in Calais.
